Beaches |
Andalucía is a wonderful place for beaches with some 900km of coastline. However, depending on the age of your children, it’s a good idea to be careful where you go. The beaches on the Atlantic coast of Cadiz including Tarifa (where the international windsurfing and surfing championships have been held) can be very windy with large waves and undercurrents which are really only suitable for the professionals. The beaches along the Mediterranean coast together with those along the Costa de la Luz in Huelva are more suitable for children. And remember that in July and August temperatures can be very hot (in the 40s) and you may want to avoid being on the beach during the hottest hours, typically from 2 until 4pm. |

Other ideas |
Many small towns often have rides during the summer months and all have children’s parks with play areas. Check if any of the towns around are celebrating their annual “fiestas” during your holiday, where there will usually be children’s rides and stalls all day and night! For the sporty youngsters an inland holiday is often a great idea. Many areas offer adventure days out where anyone over 12 can try canoeing, caving, rafting etc. Younger children need to be accompanied by adults. Most towns on the coast offer classes in water sports too on a daily basis. In Tarifa there are even excursions by boat to watch the whales and dolphins.
